I think the screen would provide a certain level of reassurance that the pictures hadn't mysteriously vanished somehow, technology and the Law of Sod being what they are.
I have my PD70X now but I think my conjecture that I would be able to look at the photos using my Windows Mobile PDA will come to nothing.
