Taken at the Taos Pueblo. When I went as a kid with my parents, lo, those many long years ago, it was a working pueblo with about 1,000 - 1,5000 residents. This time I asked at the front gate, and they said 100 people are still residents. But when I actually asked some Indians inside (they have little shops), I only found one who actually lived there. Most go home at night, so nowadays it's more a "weekend pueblo." The main reason is lack of electricity. Once the Indians could move out and into town and have electricity, and could afford to move into town, there was a mass exodus. Evidentially, sometime in the early sixties.
Okay, enough historical side bar. When I first saw the back of the church there, I thought, "Aha, the famous back." But by the time I had taken about three photos I realized it wasn't. I am pretty quick on the uptake, only takes me a few minutes. :-) (That church is in town, not at the pueblo.) I have ended up liking this more and more. That is actually an Indian woman walking in the background. You are not supposed to take their photos without permission, but it was really accidental. http://members.aol.com/eactivist/PAWS/pages/wrongback.htm However, it's just sort of an okay photo, and I am not totally sure it is worth it. So, comments, welcome. Marnie aka Doe :-)

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
