A Gestalt moment... (the whole is greater than the sum of its parts) The head looks disembodied...over all the color version somehow makes better "sense" of the context (apart from the title). The quality of the b&w is superb but it took me a nanosecond longer to get a sense of what is going on...unless that's is intentional.
