Godfrey, I've just installed the LR that came on CD. Except a "B4" appearing on top of EULA it is the same as the one I downloaded for trial from Adobe site. I think that local Adobe rep just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to try to enter my serial to beta version or something. You know, talking with a person on the phone, you cannot really know how proficient they are with computers, so they were walking on a safe side, so to say.
