On my way back to London today I had to change trains at
Middlesbrough. At the railway station a fine old gentleman who I think
is probably the reincarnation of Wilfred Hyde-White, saw my camera and
binoculars and suggested I take a look at the eagle owl which has
taken up residence on one of the nearby buildings. So I did:

Not much of a picture, but I only had 10 minutes between trains, and a
short lens.

These creatures are very rare in the UK. There is a successful wild
breeding pair in North Yorkshire, and the gentleman thought this was
one of their offspring. But perhaps it's an escaped captive bird.
