[meter reading in Super A drops when DOF preview is used] [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > Thanks. All the bodies we had in stock worked like that. > Maybe a techie could explain it for me?
There are two levers in the K-mount which couple lens and body (see <URL:http://www.BDimitrov.de/kmp/extras/K-mount/K.html>), one of them keeps the aperture open, the other one tells the body how far the lens will be stopped down during exposure. When you use DOF preview, the lens gets stopped down to the shooting aperture, which reduces the amount of light reaching the exposure meter. But the second lever is unaltered, so it still 'tells' the camera that the lens will be stopped down further during exposure. Hence the meter reading drops. I see no obvious way to circumvent this with mechanical DOF preview systems. cheerio ralf -- Ralf Stubner <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
