I've never bothered to keep track of how many pics I get from a charge.
However, I do pay attention to how long the battery holds its charge, since
I'm not the kind of photographer to take hundreds of photos in a day.

I've noticed that the battery, whether it's sitting in the camera or on the
table next to the charger, holds its charge for weeks at least. I've gone
at least three weeks with the same battery in the camera, shooting a handful
of pics from time to time. For me, that's all I care about. I've got three
batteries, in case I ever do need that much power, but for my shooting
style, I've got more than enough in just one battery. It's a hell of a lot
better than NiMH AAs in my old *istD.

By the way, I've got two Pentax batteries and one Impact battery (from B&H).
They all seem to perform equally.
