I had a few connections at Chrysler who got me access to the infield at Gateway on a regular basis. We watched the races from the press booth and hung out in the pit areas. Lots of fun. The small budget cars were often the most fun to watch. The fast, powerful, expensive cars were boring. Seeing a bunch Viper and Cobra owners taking it easy so as to not trade paint gets old fast. Gimme a field full of Ford Escorts and Honda Civics anytime.
