Leica has been designing 12:1 zoom lenses for cameras bearing
Panasonic and Leica names for several years now. They're excellent
quality. I had the Panasonic FZ10 for a while, a compact 12:1
ultrazoom camera with a 4Mpixel sensor. It made a LOT of excellent
photos for me, including this one of the Point of Ayre Lighthouse on
the Isle of Man:

It's sold several copies in 11x14 prints. "Brand image depreciation"?
Who cares when the lenses perform like this?
