Good news for those of you who know, or at least know of, Don Nelson, the Pentax-shooter who's the organizer of the Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend.
I expect you'll recall his ordeal with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma a year and a half ago and the nasty recurrence he had last summer. It was quite the ordeal he went through in the fall: Very aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, followed by bone marrow transplant and other nastiness. He's been a long time recovering and staying away from just about everyone and everything, due to the pounding his immune system took (he's had to have all his childhood vaccinations again). I just got an email from him informing me that the test results he got Wednesday show all clear. Now cancer is kind of like a mutual fund: Past results are no guarantee of future performance. But the news was the best news he could have gotten so I'll be raising a pint to him this evening even if *he's* not allowed alcohol any more :) Looking forward to seeing him at GFM!
