There's an awful lot of people in India. My experience in India was that people were happy to be photographed, and I never felt unsafe anywhere. At a burning ghat I was even invited by a couple of men who were cremating their mother to take photos of the ritual. Which I did.
The only time anyone ever expressed a contrary view was when a Brahmin tried to stop me from photographing people with begging bowls outside a temple. His opinion was that photographers should only show good things. My opinion is that I should photograph what I see, and produce a balanced view of a country. Oh, and another time someone politely asked me not to take photos inside a temple, so I didn't. -- Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Markus Maurer > Sent: 09 March 2007 21:42 > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List > Subject: RE: Ganges > > Hi Bill > Indeed I would love to go to India just for the colors and > wouldn't mind the > beautiful people too ;-) > Was it easy and safe to photograph those places and people? > greetings > Markus > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of > Bill Lawlor > Sent: Friday, March 09, 2007 9:39 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re:Ganges > > > I posted three shots from life along the Ganges at Varanasi, > India' most > sacred, and IMO colorfull, city. www.photo.net/photos/wvl > > > A mother and her child bride daughter on wedding day.
