Hi Boris -

I started using a monopod to shoot insect macros a few years ago. I had
a Slik on hand (older model than the 350 but seems comparable - very
light weight / light duty.) It's worked fine. I often need to make quick
changes in the height setting and it is fast and responsive.

The only problem I had with the grooved tubes was last summer, when I
lost the rubber tip that caps the end of the monopod. I was shooting in
this sandy / moss covered soil - the end of the monopod would penetrate
down 6 inches or so, then stick when I tried to pull it out. Ultimately
the rubber cap fell off and I continued using it, only to get the hollow
tube filled with damp sandy soil. I found another cap for it but it took
a while to work the sand out of the mechanism. Before it was gone, the
leg tended to bind a bit.

But after years of pretty heavy use - something is bound to happen.

My 2 cents -
