I dont think pentax made any m42 lenses other than f1.4 IIRC. There were many other focal lengths and the 55mm was made in F1.8 but a Pentax 50mm F1.7 M42 lens? Never heard of that.... jco

I had it with my old H2 (H3?). Then it was produced in K mount through, I believe, 1977. Anyway, it is reputed to have a flatter field at close focusing and to be better for copy work than the contemporaneous 50/1.4.
