I recently bought the book "The Old Order and the New: P H Emerson and Photography (1885-1895)". As well as including most of Emerson's photographs, which are very worthwhile, it has some fascinating essays by John Taylor, who (I think) curated the accompanying exhibition.
One of the most interesting essays is about the photo called Gathering Water Lilies, shown (annoyingly animated) on the exhibition's home page: http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/emerson/home.asp There is some audio of John Taylor discussing this photo - essentially the content of the essay - and why it is an object lesson in how to look at photographs. I found it a very interesting analysis - I hope you do too. Click the audio link on this page. It lasts about 5 minutes: http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/emerson/gathering_water_lillies. asp Bob -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
