I had a bad asbestos exposure when I was a teenager. In addition to
my other duties, I ground brake shoes to fit the drum diameter in a
speed shop/auto parts store some forty years ago. I never wore a mask
or anything. I know what asbestos tastes like. I took deep breaths of
it. It's kind of sweet and not at all unpleasant on the palette.
Sometimes I drew in so much that it made me cough. Thought nothing of
it at the time. I get chest X-rays once a year and so far nothing has
come up. But I think that asbestos will probably be the thing that
does me in one day.
