Subjective image quality opinions about the ones I've owned recently.
I've owned many other Pentax 50mm lenses, but I was not as critical back
then:

50mm F1.4 M:  Fantastic resolution, even pretty decent at wide
apertures.  Tinge of barrel distortion.
50mm F1.7 F:  Soft up to about F2.8, very good resolution from F4.0-F11.
Nearly no distortion.
43mm F1.9 FA:  A little soft wide open, but improves dramatically
quickly to fantastic resolution.  Nice bokeh.  Moderate barrel
distortion (too much for a prime IMO).
