I've used Carbon Copy Cloner successfully in the past. The version I had proved troublesome when Mac OS X v10.4 came out, but Mike Bombich has since done several updates. http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html The other way is to use Apple Software Restore (asr). This is included with your system. Instructions for use are available in man pages: type in a Terminal window > man asr for full documentation.
