Speaking of cards ... I found an excellent deal on Extreme III 2Gbyte cards and a Sandisk Extreme III reader so I went for it ... two 2G cards and a USB 2.0 reader for CF and SD/SDHC cards for $60. It just arrived today.
I haven't had much time to do testing but did a little so far: - All the SD cards (Transcend 150x, Sandisk Ultra II and Sandisk Extreme III) mount, read and write without errors in the new reader unit. - The Extreme III cards occasionally fail to mount in the now two year old Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 reader. None of the Ultra II or Transcend cards have ever had any problems with that reader. A quick check of read and write speeds, using the Extreme III reader and Mac OS X's Activity monitor to watch throughput shows about what I expected: the Extreme III cards demonstrate on average about 10-15% better performance than the Transcend 150x. In the K10D, the Extreme III cards achieve 10 exposures, capturing RAW/PEF format on continuous vs the Transcend 150x 9 exposures before slowing down due to buffer full conditions. Perhaps tomorrow I'll set up and do another camera test run like I did for the Ultra II and Transcend 150x, add it to the performance web page I posted a while back .. http://homepage.mac.com/godders/Pentax-DS-150x-timing/ Godfrey -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
