Damn. Sorry for your misfortune here. But I don't think it's a  
function of the camera's size pr weight. That screw could just as  
easily damaged an *istD. Any time one carries a camera in any manner  
other than hanging from one's neck, it has to be in a protected  
environment. A padded compartment in a padded bag or -- better yet --  
a padded compartment in a dust-free and moisture-free case. You have  
to make rules and then live by them.
