Hey Bob,

While I agree with Paul on using a proper camera bag to carry the
camera, there are times when I just want to put the camera and/or a
couple of lenses into your carry-on luggage for ease of transport
along with a small, folded flat shoulder bag for when I get to my
destination. In those situations, a camera pouch or case is very handy.

I recommend the lined, reinforced neoprene Op/Tech USA Soft Pouches
or Zing Action covers ... they make a range of sizes and shapes to
cover SLRs with various lenses. They're light weight, go on and off
the camera very quickly, and are very protective. The smallest Zing
model fits the *ist DS perfectly with a DA18-55 or A50/2.8 Macro ...
that's what I keep the camera in when it's in the storage drawer. One
of the middle size ones will fit the K10D perfectly. B&H has them ...
as do most well stocked camera stores. I prefer to get them at the
store locally since then I can find the one that fits the particular
camera more easily.

I also use the neoprene Pelican lens pouches for transporting and
storing lenses ... most of my lenses fit well in their smallest size.
Very protective and nicely made.

These kinds of cases and pouches are washable so you can minimize
dust and dirt that tends to collect in them.
