I live in China, and agree strongly with the comments above.
Don't drink tap water, though.

Travellers here do get some intestinal illnesses, but this is much
less common than in places like India or Indonesia.

Wikitravel is an attempt to develop a free worldwide travel guide by
Wiki (web pages anyone can edit) collaboration. Parts of it are
quite good. Most of it needs more contributions, including photos.
