(not my pictures) Here's a Steller's Jay: http://www.christinevadai.com/STJA4.jpg A Blue Jay: http://www.science.smith.edu/stopoverbirds/birdpixs/images/Blue%20Jay.jpg And a Scrub Jay http://www.daytonphoto.com/PAW/bkd_4674a.htm > The scrub jays around here seem to be our "standard" run-of-the-mill jay Out West I'd imagine they would be. We don't have them in the East, except a population in Florida which looks slightly different than the Western population. -- ======== I've seen all three here (California, Northern). But our most common Jay seems to be the Scrub Jay. And I am not totally sure how many Stellar Jays I have seen or if I have. But I am pretty sure that we have a fair number of Blue Jays. Funnily, they often seem to travel together which makes it a tad confusing. Or if you see Scrub Jays that is when you see other varieties too. Right conditions I suppose. I have wondered about it anyway. The big, century oak, in my "backyard" (common condo area, but behind me) attracts all kinds of birds, from Bushtits to Woodpeckers.
