I agree with part of your sentiment. ... a dog is not a disposable pet. Goldies are fine, although they're not the breed I would choose either. I'm not much of a dog person but I grew up with them and appreciate them. Most any dog will be a fine friend if brought up right and treated with love, dignity and respect.
