More... from another report today...

Hoya head Hiroshi Suzuki told reporters at that time that the
optical glass maker is mainly interested in strengthening its
medical-related operations with Pentax.

But Suzuki said Hoya is unlikely to receive many benefits from
Pentax's digital camera division.

Suzuki also hinted at the possibility of selling Pentax's camera
operations on Jan. 22 on the occasion of briefing on Hoya's latest
earnings results, creating serious complaints within Pentax.

Pentax had hoped to enhance its digital single lens-reflex
camera business by taking advantage of Hoya's financial power.

Hoya will decide whether to launch a takeover bid for Pentax
during an extraordinary board meeting Tuesday.

Pentax will study the tender offer after receiving an official
proposal from Hoya, but the sources said it is unlikely that the
camera maker will become supportive of the new plan in light of the
current management rift.
