I used a short loop of an old strap (much like Cotty I guess :-) plus some non-scratching 'carabine' aluminium hooks: http://www.dfsee.com/gallery/index.php?list=19 The third row in that gallery shows details of the lugs. The lugs are small enough to not be in the way with the neck-strap removed ...
