...yet another camera bag. This morning I collected a black Domke F-5XB bag that I'd ordered. It's pretty small, but perfectly formed. I have previously been using a proper handlebar bag when pottering about on my bike, but that bag had reached the end of its useful life, and wasn't good enough as a camera bag when off the bike. So I thought about it from the other direction: what is a good camera bag that can easily be used as a bar bag? The answer is the F-5XB. It holds my E-1 + 14-54mm lens, Sekonic L-608 lightmeter, wallet, reading glasses, keys, bits & pieces for the camera, all perfectly well and is very easy to attach to the bike - I use mountaineering straps. The bag is lightly but effectively padded. I'm not convinced it would do well in a monsoon downpour, but I keep a couple of plastic bags stuffed under the saddle anyway, to protect the saddle (a leather one) in such an event, so that's not a big deal.
When researching this I saw a number of comments from people on the web that it looks a bit like a 'man bag'. This is true, but fortunately I'm butch enough for it not to matter. And if anybody disagrees I'll hit them with my hand bag. Regards Bob -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
