Here's the data I have: - All of the framed work I sold from gallery and coffeehouse exhibitions last year was ~ 11x14 inch printed size, matted and framed to 16x20 inch, at around the $250-275 @piece price point.
- At the December Portfolio Show, I put out 31 pieces from 4x6 (11x14 matte) to 12x18 (18x24 matte). Two pieces sold, both 11x14 (16x20) at the @$130 price range. There was interest in three of the smaller sized prints which ended up as custom requests for, you guessed it, ~ 11x14 (16x20) prints... - Last year I sold quite a few unframed/unmatted reproduction prints last year (meaning they are unsigned and not part of an "edition") for anywhere from $40 to $120 depending upon the image and the paper. While smaller work will sell, you have to cut costs dramatically and offer it at very low prices. Until you become internationally famous, of course, and can be like Robert Adams who seems to have no difficulty selling 4x4 inch prints matted and framed to 11x14 for $6000 apiece... !
