Of course it allows you to disable the grip (it doesn't disable the
second battery of course) and still allows to use the camera as usual
in landscape mode or in review mode.

I noticed I usually do not press accidentaly the shutter release from
the grip when shooting protrait. However, it often happens when
showing to others the shot I took. I try to disable the grip first in
that case.
