Different solutions work for different people, and even seemingly
very small changes in the configuration of a bag can make a
ridiculously important difference for me. The first time I went out
with the 7Mill, I had it configured very close to the way they had it
setup when I got it and I found myself nearly dropping gear all
morning. Moving two dividers and relocating were my "ancillary junk"
was, putting the camera on top where I need it, all of a sudden took
me from bag hell to bag heaven.

I've had four sling type bags and two backpacks. One of those
backpacks ... the Lowepro CompuTrekker AW ... has been very good for
transporting large amounts of gear through airports and to sites, but
I find it impossible to work with in the field and carry a small
shooting bag when I use it. The rest I've either sold or plan to sell
shortly, and I'm going to sell the CompuTrekker too as it's a lot
larger and bulkier than I need/want now.

This one is useful enough and handy enough to carry-on everything but
my laptop for the next trip to Europe or NY, and I'll use a slim
laptop-only bag to handle that, pitch the rest of the junk in my
rollaway and check it. :-)
