A "true raw file" would have to contain data for every pixel recorded.  
You could reduce the number or pixels recorded but then it wouldn't be 
raw.  Pentax doesn't seem to allow capture of only a portion of the 
sensor data, if that's even actually possible, based on the sensor design.
