About 50 (!) years ago, I did a similar thing from my bike - which looked a
lot like the one Scott bought. I was luckier than Bob's co-worker though -
the gravel rash merely removed half my face!
Left me with mild concussion though, and I've never been as good-looking
since! :-(

>A co-worker came in Monday with some problems.
> He has been training for a triathlon and went for a bike ride Sunday.
> He got about half a block from home and his foot came out of the pedal.
> He caught it in the front wheel spokes, stopped dead, and went over on his
> head.
> He broke the bike helmet into 3 pieces.
> The plastic surgeon used 30 stiches to sew his ear back on.
> He fractured his elbow and his radius (forearm bone), and is in a sling.
> And his cheekbone is broken and visibly depressed, a later repair.
