I tend not to trust the finder WRT assessment of bokeh or even DOF
with some lenses. I have found over the years that the interaction
between lens and focus screen can display quite a different rendering
to that which is projected onto the film/sensor plane. In the case you
cited I can't point to any particular reason for what you report as I
don't own that model body or lens.
