There is a very silly conversation that just occured in the Yahoo *istD
group. I've omitted the names to protect the innocent.

QUESTION: OK let me preface this by saying that I know I could probably get
the
answer by reading my user manual. However... I have 3 kids uner 5 and
they have not given me any time to read. Pictures I can take while
they go wild, reading however doesn't sink in when you have to stop
every 10 seconds to correct them or kiss a booboo.

OK what is the little red square that blinks and beeps while I am
looking the the viewfinder? Why won't it let me take a picture until
that beeps? Its driving me nuts, I have missed many good shots because
of it.

--

ANSWER: That is the auto focus working, You can use the camera in manual and
this will not happen but you will have to focus the camera manually. Hope
this helps

--

RESPONSE: I have tried in manual and it does the same thing. If its not
focused "properly" it won't let me take the picture, even if it
appears focused to me or it is how I want the photo to look.

--

NEXT ANSWER: Push the little button down on the side to manual instead of
auto focus, and it will fire whether it is in focus or not.

--

NEXT ANSWER: Ooops, I see that is what you just said. Sorry, I can't think
of anything else. Is the lens mounted tight?

--

It's funny that there's time to sit in front of the 'puter, read and write
e-mail, but not time to look at the manual. Probably not a person that
needs or should have a DSLR.
