I like your theme too (I haven't been paying close attention lately, so I don't know how long you have been doing this theme). I live and work on the west side Denver, so every time I look out the window there is a beautiful scene of the foothills... interrupted by powerlines, barbed wire fences and trash. It is frustrating because nothing ruins your beautiful scenic like a truck and powerline in the back ground, so I often times try to embrace it instead and try to represent it as it really is, like Frank said. It's just hard to make it look pretty where there is a barbed wire fence and a dorito bag in your way :) Russ ========== Thanks, Russ. Well, I'll tell you why I like the pole. It helps mark the path the truck will take. We see the truck, we see the pole, and we sort of anticipate the truck will pass the pole. Fill that center spot. I have another shot with a gas tanker truck filling that center spot in front of the pole and it isn't nearly as effective as waiting for the white truck to fill that spot. Of course, in my photo he's never going to make it, but the anticipation is there. Without the pole it is easier to ignore the truck and see it just as a pretty nature shot. Because it is definitely a whole prettier without the telephone pole. That's all imagining in my head of course, but that is why I like the pole there. I agree, hard to make it look pretty with a barbed wire fence and a Dorrito bag. I think that is why my documentary shots so far aren't pretty, I don't really want them to be. I could take them with dramatic lighting and make them so, but that isn't my point. Although semi-good looking is okay. However, I may try for some pretty combo shots (man-made/nature) and see how I feel about it. Thanks for looking, Later, Marnie aka Doe :-) =========== >http://members.aol.com/eactivist/PAWS/pages/mustardfly.htm --------------------------------------------- Warning: I am now filtering my email, so you may be censored. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
