As I understand it, with my rather limited knowledge; which is basically some very quick learning from various web sites, the lens and the camera exchange information via the contacts on the mount. Could any/some of these contacts be ¨messed¨ in some way so as to be conveying incorrect information and short of trying to get Samsung to fix this is there anything I can do/try to see if I can correct the problem (without invalidating any warranty). I suppose a contact could be corroded, but given the age of these cameras, I suspect otherwise. You can clean the contacts with a new pencil eraser, be careful not to let anything get inside the camera. You could also try removing and replacing the battery, and also updating the firmware. After that, you are pretty much out of options, and need to go back to the store for help/ warranty.
