I agree completely. The question is whether I need them for the equipment I'm using and the purposes I have in mind. At present, the answer is no, but I can always swap the Kirk head back onto my tripod legs if I find I do. ;-) Either RRS or Kirk make dedicated plates for the Pentax 645 which include the locating pin for proper camera orientation and support. That's a nice plus! But they'd cost me almost $200 to get the pair I want ... that's probably more expensive than I need for the amount of use I'd get out of them.
