Well, I'll be departing for the mountain three weeks from today. Photos and link to revised GFM map at http://www.robertstech.com/temp/atticwindow/index.html
The plan as it stands now: Wednesday morning Frank & Dave will be leaving Toronto before the crack of dawn so as to arrive in Pittsburgh in time for a leisurely lunch in an elegant bistro somewhere in town. Then we'll drive to my friends' cabin in Ashe County, NC, pick up refreshments at the local supermarket and relax in the fresh mountain air. Thursday morning Frank and I will take out the bicycles and ride each other into the ground for about three hours. Thursday afternoon we'll head over to Grandfather Mountain (about 50 miles from the cabin). Thursday night I'll do my camp out on the mountain, weather permitting (and the weather has to get pretty fierce before I'll let in *not* permit). I usually camp at the "Cliffside" campsite near Calloway Peak (see map). Still waiting for someone to join me on this one. Never had any takers yet ;-) Friday morning is for recovery and Friday afternoon is check-in for participants. Friday evening the show begins. Don Nelson welcomes everyone and "swears in" contest participants. Doug & I have a short presentation and then we have the first featured speaker. I don't have an itinerary yet so I'm not sure who it is. Could be our own Mark Cassino. After the talk we retire to the campsite where we all consume food & drink and make fun of Cotty. Or Frank. We'll flip a coin... Saturday morning at 10:30 there's my group trek to Attic Window Peak. Check out the map. Gather your reserves of inner strength. And join us. Photo contest entries are to be turned in by 4:00 p.m. Buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. Then the evening presentation. I'm pretty sure it's going to be Tony Sweet. Then we go back to the camping area and repeat the previous night but switch our target for taunting. If it was Frank on Friday it'll be Cotty on Saturday, and vice-versa. Sunday morning Doug and I sequester ourselves in the basement of the museum to judge the photo contest and participants hear more great presentations in the auditorium. Somewhere around 11:15-11:30 we begin the contest presentation with "best of non-winners" and then the winners, runners-up and honorable mentions. Then everyone drives home to be ready for work again on Monday morning :) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
