Hi Paul -

If you are interested in more info re the Compact Drive, I put together
a pretty detailed review here a while back:

http://tinyurl.com/32js8x

the only annoyance I've seen with the Compactdrive is WRT the way it
creates new directories.

Let's say you save 10 cards to a new Compact Drive - they would be
written to the drive as 10 directories, CARD0001.UHS through
CARD0010.USH. But if you then erase the first 3 directories and save 5
more cards, your 5 new cards would be saved as CARD0001.UHS through
CARD0003.USh, and then as CARD0011.ush and 0012.USH. If you do a lot of
directory deletes on the drive, it gets confusing to track where the
newest files were. My old X's drive was much better in this capacity -
it simply indexed off the last directory on the drive. So if you had a
drive with just one directory - card0100 for example - the X's drive
would just pick up at card0101.

I work around the problem on the Compactdrive by just deleting the
contents of each directory and leaving the empty directory there as a
place holder. But that is inelegant.

One nice feature of the Compact Drive, though, is that you can put a
file on the main directory that will define how future card saves are
named. SO if you are heading out for the Onassis wedding, you can stick
a file on the drive that will restart the file naming at
Onassis0001.UHS, and continue with that till you change the default ont
he drive.

Otherwise, I found the Compact Drive to be extremely well thought out
and designed at the detailed level. I am surprised they missed such an
obvious annoyance.
