Not nonsense.

Overall, the DS metering calibration was setup for the JPEG defaults  
(Bright color tone, etc) and underexposes RAW files by .3-.7 EV. This  
takes a little more work in RAW conversion. The K10D's metering is  
much more accurate for RAW capture, and I think now (with Camera Raw  
and Lightroom) the camera settings in the converter are somewhat  
better. The K10D seems to have about 1EV more dynamic range in  
capture too, although I haven't done my test measurements yet.

Your familiarity with RAW conversion processing also has its effect.
