Probably not because most long lenses actually move slightly past the infinity mark to allow for temperture variations. The problem then is to "find" infinity :-) In practice, it actually make focusing at infinity somewhat easier as ther is a soft-sharp-soft transition, rather than a soft-????? sharp.
