Standard behaviour for an obligate carnivore.  You don't know when your next 
meal is going to come along so you use as little energy between feeds as 
possible.  Then (in the case of Lions) you wake up and send the wife out 
hunting.

Omnivores and herbivores can wander over to the nearest shrubbery for a bijou 
snackette.
