I agree with that. I also agree with the comment that the "millions of lenses out there ..." argument doesn't mean a damn thing. Most of those "millions of lenses" are old and obsolete, cannot support the features that people buying modern DSLR cameras want. Only a small niche group of equipment hobbyists and photographers appreciate the subset of them that have unique character that makes them worth using, and are willing to deal with using them on cameras on which they are no longer the best match to. The only folks who've made a profitable business off the obsolete and useful lenses in the world that have been orphaned in the past decade or so is Cosina, and that only because the president of the firm is a big enthusiast for old camera gear. However, I feel that the overall negative tone when discussion turns to thoughts and speculation on corporate shenanigans is a major drag. It happens on every photographic equipment list that is brand- centric. It's conversation that goes nowhere, does nothing, and just makes people feel bad. I like to keep my eyes open and know what's going on, but I'm more interested in pursuing and discussing photography than debating which batch of ambiguous translations about corporate business is more likely to be almost correct. I don't relish hanging out on a forum where discussion always has a negative tone, that just drags me down.
