It must have been cooler in Wisconsin in the late 1940's, too, 'cause I remember this as a song that was sung in school from just before Thanksgiving until Christmas. Another was "Over the River and Through the Woods.."
We *did* sing that verse along with others using "The Little Golden Book of Songs". I remember quite a few songs in that book that were considered innocent that would not be politically correct now.
