I have yet to see an :"affordable" LCD with resolution that high. Still the Hitachi seems to render characters smoother at 1600x1200. I don't know the actual specifications on this beast, it was a castoff from a client. (Not because they were dissatisfied with it's performance but because they were upgrading to an LCD with lower native resolution). I simple installed the proper drivers and set the highest resolution I could read with Windows Fonts set to 125%. I use other resolutions to check output but the highest produces the smoothest and sharpest rendering, to my eye.
