I've worn glasses since I was in second grade ... and I don't like 'em either. ;-)
All my glasses now are antireflection coated, and I have them all scratch-resistance hardened as well. I went through two/three sets of lenses with bad scratching even after I started doing that until my friend's wife clued me into the fact that hot water ruins the surface hardening ... ONLY wash eye glasses in cold water. Since then, I've not had a single scratch. They've gotten a lot better at both the antireflection coating and scratch resistance too. Had my annual eye check up just a few weeks ago and asked about contacts ... I was told that with the complexity of my corrections (two different kinds of astigmatism plus the near-far bifocal requirement, plus the fact that by his testing I'm extremely sensitive to the quality of the correction, he could spend $1200-2000 of my money trying and still not guarantee that I'll be happier with them than I am with glasses. One of these days I have to talk about lasik, I guess, if I want to improve things. Glasses are a pain.
