This is not unique to the K10D. I tried to use a AF500-FTZ and a
AF400T simultaneously on both Z-1 and *istD, connecting as you did
with 5P cables. However, my result was the opposite; the FTZ flash
fired, but not the T.

I can't give you a good explanation of why this happens, but it seems
that the T-series (ie. analogue flashes) can't be triggered together
with digital flashes for some reason. One possibility is that the 5P
cord relays information between camera and flash in such a way that it
excludes one of the flashes from the "conversation" all together.
Perhaps the camera has to decide which communication "protocol" it has
to use. Have you tried using a 3rd party X-shoe and cable with only
the centre-contact connected? Perhaps that disables any "advanced"
communication exchange between flash and camera. Alternatively, you
can use a slave trigger mounted on the bracket, and connect one of the
flashes to the trigger.
