I got "closeout special" pricing on it, in fact, since it was discontinued already. So the only place to find them now would be the used equipment vendors, ebay, and the like. The flare control, contrast, and resolution aren't quite up to the standards of the FA* 200/2.8 and the F* 300/4.5, but not many lenses from any manufacturer will stand a comparison to those two, especially the 200. The flare control, contrast, and resolution seem to me to be better than the K 400/5.6 I have, and definitely better than the Tokina SD 400/5.6 P-K that I used to have (might've been the P-KA). I've never even attempted serious comparison testing, those are just my impressions from using them in the field. > I have the previous version Sigma 300 f/2.8 and it's a fantastic lens, > especially compared against similar lenses at higher price ... so if the > DG lenses are improved beyond that, they ought to be very good indeed. If you try the DG 500, I'll be interested in hearing about it. I may not buy another Sigma flash after the fiasco with the firmware for the DG 500 Super, but I haven't had trouble with their lenses in the past. -- Thanks, DougF (KG4LMZ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
