Phwhooo. What a great weekend. Arrived about 12:30 this morning, and went right to bed. Got up around 8:30 to more rain.LOL
Don, thanks muchly for the hospitality and stew. Mark you don't know what you missed.:-) Bill, it was good to see you again and in better spirits. It was great to see everyone again, and meet the new folk to. Cotty and Dave S are great people to hang with. Cesar is well, Cesar, :-) Cotty's friend Brian and i have a common ground. Horses are sucking our wallets dry.:-) Thanks to Cory for having the forethought to buy a trailer with a rain hat, and lurker for trinkets again. Scott, your stories are funny. Good to see Tom and Susan again, but Sue has to go and play in the big sand box now.LOL.Congrats on your win. Seems Doug, Mark and Nico can be kept entertained with $2.00 laser pens. Remember its all fun till someone loses an eye. Ann, Rick, it was great to see you again, and Mat gets the all weather award for bringing the bike again.Kept bumping into Bob in McDonalds for some reason. Must be good macro op's there.LOL Ken Waller had a lovely flower shots that won 1st place. If i left out anyone i'm sorry. Neighbour Bruce, was a nice fellow, and had a great "Arthur, King of the Britons" shot. Hope we did not keep you up to much. Mark and I had a nice relaxing start to the drive home, breakfast at the Whistle stop in Warrensville, two Fstops up, then a nice drive back to the cabin to turn the water off.:-) Drive down and back was very good, low traffic and little to no construction. After unpacking Marks gear, i reviewed the directions out of Pittsburg with Mark. Seems a change due to construction was needed and a new route devised. This is when i found someone had put a "Kick me' sign on my truck. As i was navigating 5th Street or Ave, not really sure at this point, i noticed a young pup in a Honda Civic behind me, not really paying attention to his driving. I decided to put my parking lights on, so he would perhaps notice me better. No sooner had i done so, when he ran into the back of me. Hand waving and mouthing, I'm sorry did not keep me from getting out to investigate. This apparently pissed off the several million drivers behind us. Oh i forgot to mention, this was during rush hour. Zero damage to my truck bumper and none to his car, like i gave a S&***T. A quick left and two rights and the journey home began. Ok, now i have to ask this. What is it about the phrase, i'm going to, or i have been, in NC camping and doing some photography, that border gaurds cannot seem to comprehend. I had a bit of a hassle both going down AND coming back home. Seems the US guard was taken aback that i was camping but not bringing food. When i mentiioned i was buying it locally, she let me on my way. The Canadian guard, seemed to have a hard time with it to, when asked what i was doing in NC, but let me through anyway. See being cute still has its advantages.:-) The presentations were good, although the one on LR PS etc left a lot to be desired. Mark Cassino's presentation was great, and his phots are stunning. Dick G's on how to travel was long but interesting. Don M's to wind things up was good. Tony Sweet had some amazing stuff to show, but lost me in the infomercial. The awards by Mark and Doug were hilarius as always and again let me point out lasers are NOT our friends.LOL One of mine made it to the dishonerable catagory, to which i was happy it made it that far. The comments on why it missed out are noted and i'll try and make the adjustments. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6054586 All in all a fantastic weekend, and i eventhough most of the reason i go now is for the friendships, i feel this weekend helps in developing an "eye" for nature. I hope to make it again next year, but we'll have to see what work i have and if a week off can be arranged. I'll have some pics up soon as i'm sure others will.
