Don't bet on it, ten or so years back I encountered problems with a
series of large expensive Quantum enterprise drives that exhibited
mass failure in about ten different locations inside differing
equipment. I've seen failures in every brand and level of hard drive,
it's generally luck of the draw, few problems could be attributed to
faulty power supplies (I had a Fluke Scopemeter in my tool kit which I
used to check PSU voltages and ripple) or host adaptor failures.

Personally I've had quite a few drives fail, the last two were cheap
WDs but they were replaced under warranty. I currently run RAID 0
(which I keep backed up in two on-line and one off-line locations) and
a 1.2TB RAID 5 array built on high performance SATA drives which are
warranted for five years each. Last time I added up my local HD
capacity it was just over 4TB so I expect more failures.
