I see the ad. Personally an ad on the bottom of the page that can be scrolled off the screen so it doesn't interfere with photos doesn't bother me a whole lot. If the ads were on the sides of the page however, there's no way I'd use it. A blinking ad would bother me no matter where it is.
I agree that it would be nice if a paying subscriber had the option to not display ads on a page at all.
